Yolande Guérout
Lives and works in Rouen and Paris
Member of Manifestampe
Registered with the Maison des Artistes
Graduating from the Superior National School of Arts in Paris, Yolande Guérout very early on developed a line of research centred on imprint and printmaking, initiated in Giuseppe Penone’s studio. In 1999, she extended this exploration at the Cité internationale des arts, within the printmaking department, where she deepened a practice grounded in trace, gesture, and processes of impression.Alongside her artistic practice, she completed in 2001 a Master’s degree in Aesthetics and Contemporary Art Practices at Université Paris VIII. Her thesis, devoted to the tactile relationship between viewer and artwork, examined the sensory experience of the image and the embodied modes through which it is perceived.
She presented her prints at the Journée de l’estampe contemporaine (Paris, Place Saint-Sulpice) in 2022,and was invited again in June 2026 by Christian Massonnet to exhibit a group of works in the same context, exploring the plastic potential of the printed image beyond the traditional formats and conventions of printmaking. She has also exhibited at Librairie Métamorphoses in Paris’s 6th arrondissement, and collaborated with the publisher Leizorovici on a shared edition at Atelier René Tazé in Paris.
Her works have entered several public and private collections, including the Gautier & Co collection, the Department of Prints and Photography at the Bibliothèque nationale de France, and the collections of the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. Her work develops around the notion of the imprint within Bo Halbirk’s studio in Montreuil, where she conducts research on extremely fine.supports, notably Tengujō paper. This material allows her to explore states of extreme fragility in paper and its capacity for transformation under constraint. Specialising in the technique of etching, she situates her practice within the fields of contemporary printmaking and drawing, articulating both through the transformation of paper.
